The KBRD / KLDY upgrade - sale is a " NO Win Deal". Most two-way radio systems have at least 1 KW ERP. Anything less than 1 KW is NOT going to serve the public or generate income. 680 has no possible chance of nightime service -- nor any real local service. The 690 in Vancouver pounds the Olmpia area both day and night. Even with 800 watts -- most of the Olympia area will only hear static on 680. And the "bitter pill" is even worse. KLDY 1280 -- ends up programming Spanish. Just what the Puget Sound or the Pacific Northwest needs more of --- Spanish radio stations. Since the FCC is asleep -- even if someone protects -- nothing will stop the insane idea from taking place. Just once -- I wish it could be the daytimer being sold off -- to keep the fulltime frequency -- "as is" -- with good programming that the public wants and supports.
