Long Lost Australian Radio Stars
1940's DJ's from across Australia

New additions to the Long Lost Australian Radio Stars series have
been recently
released at the Radio Heritage Foundation website
www.radioheritage.net.
>From long gone 2CK Cessnock [NSW], the 'Daily Telegraph Sports
Parade' and
racing commentators Keith Dunbier and Eric Welch get a mention, along
with the
Mining News from the 'Voice of the Coalfields'.....
'Australia's Oldest Commercial Station' 2UE Sydney features such
personalities
as Allan Toohey, Clif Cary, Ron Morse, Tony McFayden, Eric Wright,
George
Nicholls, Bill Moloney, May Filmer [Auntie May], Harry Yates and many
many
more...along with their programs such as the 'Tailwaggers Club',
'Diggers
Session', 'Our Neighbour' and the 'Happy-go-Lucky Hour'.....
>From 4TO Townsville, old listeners will rediscover Murray Hulett and
Valerie
Illich, as well as John Banney who previously worked at 3BO Bendigo
and 2CH
Sydney.......
>From across in Western Australia, the spotlight falls on WA
Broadcasters Ltd
and their trio of stations, 6IX Perth, 6WB Katanning and 6MD
Merredin.
Amongst the Long Lost Australian Radio Stars featured are Ron
Gledhill, Lionel
Lewis [original 'Early Bird' of 6WB] and Jess Robertson ['Phoebe, the
Early
Cook' and some of the executive staff are mentioned as well.
>From Lyric House in Murray Street, Perth, 'it is estimated that
between 80 and
90 per cent of the listeners of Western Australia are able to tune in
to one or
more of 6IX, 6WB, 6MD'.
These new features include photos of personalities, old station logos
and
letterheads and old print adverts from the same era.

Australian High
