I drove through Gaffney on the way to the Shelby
hamfest today. Comments inserted inline.

You have no way to tell this with all the stations on
that frequency. I was in groundwave coverage at 23
miles. I could hear stations in the background. There
was no beat notes. Later at Roebuck, SC and could hear
WFGN over the skywave barely. They are VERY close to
being on frequency. They are a poor gospel station
with awful audio. I expect they have blown modules in
a Solid state transmitter. It sounds like a Harris
MW-1 with blown modules being pushed hard. In town
there was VERY significant splatter 60+ ....yes SIXTY
kilohertz or so either side of 1180. OUCH! It wasn't
very loud also.

There was a big beat note on 1140, around 5:30 PM
however. In Shelby, WAGY 1560 was blasting in and that
suprized me. I wonder if their DA was goofed up, or
there is substantial energy that way. I do know it
goes POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFF! as you go north on
I-77 and get near Charlotte and points north.
