Re: [IRCA] Collins stuff

Hi Craig,

Many note my humor is ever subtle, light, delicate. When I engage in at all, which is rarely if ever, in fact, never. I am known as dour to a fault.  Admire your concept of turning in obsolete hundred dollar bills. How to recycle them? We must every one of us do our part for the environment and recycling is critical. How about recycling thru a Cook Islands bank account in name of a Caymanian LLP whose General Partner is a Bahamian Corporation?

Consulting  w/Bob Vesco at first light - will report back.

BTB - enjoyed visit to BRU tech control ca. '85, you generously took me thru racks, best Bogen FM receiver & RLPA antenna and of course R-390A & CV-591.

Good ballast sub: 42Z hi grade resistor.

12BA6 & Jumper good, MARS mod from AF book in work room below. Tried on several R-390's. After while BFO developed hum, something about 12BA6s not as tough 5749s, and/or components hanging off filament line stressed by 26V.

So much of it is messing around to see what works vs. what causes one to tear out what little hair remains.

Collins said tube unnecessary, included at Army insistence, originally envisioned as battlefield receiver, hand crankola generator 85 - 140V. Ironically, wound up everywhere but.

R-388 unsullied by hydrogen-filled iron-filament bulb, every bit as stable.

Truly, these sets are obsolete. Extensive lab tests prove they cause lumbego in hamsters. As well, new reports suggest they interfere with aircraft navigation systems.

Best send them down here. Will handle the dangerous business of  recycling. Very risky.
