Over the years I have owned a NRD-535D, all three Drake R8 models along
with a Racal RA6790/GM. The main receivers in the shack today are the
R75, R30C and Winradio. In my opinion, the G313e is the best receiver I
have ever owned, on all bands. It performs like an absolute champ on MW,
and even though I live in sight of the antennas of many of the Memphis
AM broadcasters, I haven't had any problem with images, overloading, etc
so far. Simply an outstanding performer with the all features (and then
some!) of 3+ kilo-dollar receivers that is a true joy to operate, and in
such a small package that I can easily carry it around in the laptop bag.

One down-side is that since a laptop is required to operate, it is not
as easy for me to use with the tuned loops such as the Quantum. My Dell
laptop emits enough QRN that I must locate the antenna for enough away
that just makes it just too much of a hassle. Mileage probably varies on
this factor depending on laptops.

I did have a few issues with the Winradio when I first bought it, but
these turned out to be due to my laptop. I ended up adding a decent
external USB soundcard and haven't had an issue since then.

All in all, I can't recommend the G313 highly enough. I like this SDR
stuff so much that I am thinking about also buying a Flexradio SDR-1000.
Guy Atkins is really taken up with his SDR-1000 (
http://www.sdr-1000.blogspot.com/ }, and I would love to also have one
of those to play with.
