I have never found the sync detection circuit of my Drake R8B useful. As
such,
I never use it. The 1.8 khz. and 2.3 khz. filters on this puppy coupled
with lower
or upper sideband detection have been my main tools for successfully
coaxing
intelligibility out of a tough DX catch.
