If one control is too high where you find a phase null, you can simply back
off on both of the level setting pots by the same amount and you should be
able to keep your null just fine. A little tweaking of the pots will
re-optimize the null.

I haven't had any problems with levels myself, so I'm speaking from general
theory and there's no money back guarantee it will be so easy.

That is exactly what I was trying to do. But in phasing, one of the
controls can get up far enough to get garbage in the signal. I still
have the .1 cap in there. But I am going to experiment with .2 or a .5
tomorrow, or as soon as I get one.
