Just tried signing in to eBay to check out
the latest Chinese portables ...
I got the secure (https) webpage, entered
my userid and password, then was surprised
to get a totally new screen that asked me
for every bit of information that should
already be in their database ...
Personal Info (SSN, Birthdate, Mother's
Maiden Name, etc.)
Financial Info (Credit Card #, Expire Date,
Bank Name, Bank Routing #, etc.)
IS THIS FOR REAL?
The screen had some "weasel-words" about
"recent fraudulent activity" and that this
info was needed to "verify" my identity.
It did NOT have the secure webpage URL
header (https).
IS THIS FOR REAL?
I just went through a SEVERE virus/worm
attack on my XP laptop. I sure don't want
to give out data to some website that is
spoofing eBay.
Thanks for your input ...
73 and GREAT DX!
