This morning definitely showed more action.   Even though Bill Whitacre's reception of HLCA-972 on the east coast was so good, it was actually received even better on the west coast today.  And, about time too.  Plus, some Chinese stations appeared again.

On top of that, three stations hung in there until nearly 1700UT (well, at least faded up from time to time): 972, 1242 and 1566.  The latter was at its best strength for at least a couple of hours at 1650UT

For all that, signals were pretty erratic around local sunrise   (1523UT); it was challenging to hit the peaks.   Lots of carriers with audio traces also.






pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK 1511UT

972 HLCA some sort of play? very emotional Korean speech, with perhaps a murder taking place, judging by the anguished sounds, 1535UT.  This was still able to deliver quite a readable signal at 1654UT, with a man in Korean.

1566 HLAZ man in Russian peaking at 1650UT, -70dBm, its strongest in at least a couple of hours.  This was still delivering occasional audio after 1700UT, when a "welcome to the Voice of America" was heard, starting the Korean broadcast at that time.   This was bothered with Chinese interference earlier, with at least two sets of Chinese pips heard at 1500UT.




Reasonable audio at  times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) 

603 soft music, possibly HLSA 1441UT

729 woman talking, Japanese intonation 1443UT; no 594 available for parallel

837 JOQK man //594 1453UT

1287 pop music 1443UT JOHR?

1377 CNR1 man talking //1593 1520UT; both were weak, but the parallel was obvious with one signal in one ear, one in the other.

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)
