[IRCA] The fun continues from October 25th. Part II loggings from Victoria, BC

As promised, here is part II for the amazing morning of October 25th.
Tonight, I'm up to 909 kHz. Here's the haul! 73, Walt Salmaniw,
Victoria, BC

747 JAPAN Sapporo 500 kW JOIB, Oct 25 1434 - Excellent, almost local
reception with English lesson. // to other NHK2 outlets, like 774.
(Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

750 ALASKA Anchorage 50 KW KFQD, Oct 25 1427 - Excellent reception with
time check and temperature at 14:28. ID as well. Local S9 + 20 to 30
reception! An impressive morning, indeed!. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

756 CHINA Multiple sites, most 10 kW CNR 1 (tentative), Oct 25 1430 - Only
a tentative logging. Just before 14:30, the channel has the 'CNR 1
sound'. Too weak to be sure. Suffering from Anchorage splatter on 750!
Improved by 14:32, and almost certainly // to 639 (at excellent level!).
(Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

760 CANADA Burns Lake, BC 1000w CFLD, Oct 25 1428 - I know when conditions
are good to the north, when we can hear the flea powered station, IDing as,
'The Moose'. Fair reception before fading down, but back again a minute
later. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

774 JAPAN Akita 500 kW JOUB, Oct 25 1440 - Perhaps not as strong as it
often is, but still more than ample signal with NHK 2 programming, and
right through my SDR window of about 20 minutes. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

780 ALASKA Nome 14 kW KNOM (tentative), Oct 25 1430 - Not sure whether them
or not, but for the entire 15 or so minutes audible, non-stop music with no
announcements. Kind of fits the Alaska profile of unattended overnight
transmissions. Fair reception. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

783 CHINA Guangxi Zhuang Guangxi Weixing guangbo (tent), Oct 25 1428 -
Briefly heard Chinese here about 1428, before fading out.
(Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

792 AUSTRALIA Brisbane 25 kW ABC National 4RN, Oct 25 1430 - Not much DU
activity this morning, but there's 4RN breaking through the adjacent
splatter from nearby Bellingham at fair level (would be good otherwise)
improving after 14:30. Talk show of some sort. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

800 CANADA Penticton BC 500w CKOR, Oct 25 1430 - Hoping for Alaska, but
instead, the dominant station is flea powered CKOR from Penticton, BC.
Recognized the phone number several times (492-2800). There is another
station, cochannel, however. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

801 UNID unid, Oct 25 0359 - A reasonably strong carrier, apparently on
801.000, but there's another wobbly carrier, first measured on 800.817, and
then drifting to 800.740. Perhaps North Korea. Is it just an OC or
severely undermodulated transmitter. Strong enough that I should hear
something! By 14:35, that wobbly carrier seems to be gone, leaving 801.000
in the clear, but still unable to make out anything. The wobbler is back a
few minutes later, though. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

819 NORTH KOREA Pyongyang 500 kW KCBS, Oct 25 1428 - Pretty typical N
Korean large strident choir singing the praises to their dear leader, I'm
sure. Plenty of Seattle splatter 1 kHz up, though. Almost good at
times. By 14:35, the signal was almost as strong as Seattle!.
(Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

828 JAPAN Osaka 300 kW JOBB, Oct 25 1426 - Good reception with English
lesson. Improving by the BOH. I don't think the Japanese are as strong
compared to the mainland Asians today. Good reception mostly, though.
(Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

830 ALASKA Sand Point 1 kW KSDP, Oct 25 1435 - Another regular into Masset,
but not so common down here. Good reception with NPR programming (?BBC, as
the announcer has a UK accent), reporting about Riyadh, and // to 670.
Faded in after 14:30. Pretty strong within a few minutes.
(Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

837 CHINA Harbin 50 kW Harbin RGD (tent), Oct 25 1426 - I'm hearing 2
stations cochannel at this time. The stronger is definitely a Chinese
speaker, possibly Harbin RGD with 50 kW. The cochannel is a bit too weak
to hear. Reception is fair to good. By 1430, the cochannel is a bit
stronger, and sure sounds either Japanese or Korean, and especially by
14:41. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

846 UNID unid, Oct 25 1449 - A reasonably strong carrier, but low
modulation. I'm guessing either China or Taiwan on this one from the tone
of the language. Only tentative, though!. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

850 ALASKA Nome 50 kW KICY, Oct 25 1431 - Good reception, but interesting
propagation with continuous fade ups, then fading away, only to come back
again(and again). Way over cochannel lower 48 US station at 14:42 with a
Sermon. Near local quality at times. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

855 NORTH KOREA Sangwon 500 kW Pyongyang Bangsong (tent), Oct 25 1439 - 855
is not what it used to be. I recall this N Korean channel coming in at
armchair level morning after morning years ago, but it's a bit anemic of
late Earlier, I was pretty sure it was // to 657, but later, I'm not so
sure. Hence the tentative logging. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

860 CANADA Prince Rupert 10 kW/2.5 kW CFPR, Oct 25 1429 - Excellent
reception with a Kelowna ID at 14:30 (CBC network via Kelowna, it was
announced). Rare to hear Prince Rupert so well down here! Into regional
news. 14:35 faded down with a cochannel station with sports. Turned out
to be KPAM The Answer, from Troutdale, OR. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

864 SOUTH KOREA Gangneung 100 kW HLKR KBS 1, Oct 25 1436 - Good reception
at times with Korean banter, then into a brief musical piece, before the
same announcer came back. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

873 JAPAN Kumamoto 500 kW JOGB, Oct 25 1441 - Finally, some audio by 1441,
but obliterated mostly by serious splatter from 880 KIXI Seattle. Poor to
fair only. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

890 ALASKA Homer 10 kW KBBI, Oct 25 1429 - Excellent reception into NPR
news after a local ID. Very nice! Another favourite in Masset.
(Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

891 JAPAN Sendai 20 kW JOHK, Oct 25 1431 - Very good reception at 14:31
clearly // to 594, but quickly faded down. (Salmaniw,Victoria, BC)

Part III to come!
