[IRCA] TP 9 Oct Victoria version.

Definitely an improvement this morning, though still not too exciting

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK woman in Japanese 1403UT

747 JOIB man in Portuguese 1358UT

774 JOUB English lessons 1417UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

558 HLQH ballad //603 1408UT

567 JOIK man in Japanese 1356UT

612 4QR ABC news 1402UT

693 JOAB man in Portuguese 1356UT

828 JOBB, English lessons, taking out the garbage, 1407UT

864 HLKR man in Korean 1401UT; of course on the hour, it was all that could be done to hear the time pips

972 HLCA Korean talk, hefty pop music 1405UT

1287 JOHR woman in Japanese, better on north Flag

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

603 HLSA woman in Korean 1401UT //558 at various times

738 Taiwan Fisheries man in Chinese //1143 1413UT

873 JOGB man in Portuguese //774 1357UT

1143 Taiwan Fisheries man in Chinese //738 1413UT

1566 HLAZ man in Chinese, woman agreeing, 1416UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

594 light pop music often under 594 around 1400UT; no IDs on hour, and not //612; no idea...maybe should have been looking for a Filipino web stream?

675 pop music 1355UT, no parallels, possibly New Zealand?

837 JOQK man talking //594 1354UT

891 JOHK man in Japanese //594 1354UT

1008 man talking Japanese intonation 1412UT

1242 pop vocal 1411UT; better on N. Flag so likely JOLF

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

 585 621 639 657 702 819 846 855 909 918 936 945 1017 1053 1089 1503 seemed to be Asian;
1017 seemed to be DU (Napier NZ is supposed to be around 1584.025kHz)

best wishes,

Nick
