Gary: Thanks for the comments and offers to help navigate the ABC podcasts.
I had the luxury this morning of being able to make realtime comparisons
against several online SDRs via the Kiwi SDR network. 585 from my end was
just too weak to make any kind of viable comparison against. Hearing
something more distinct than very weak speech, like music or a sound
effect, would then allow an opportunity to find a match via the ABC
podcasts.
Thanks for mentioning the ABC podcasts, and I agree, finding the correct
content can be a challenge sometimes! I may reach out to you in the future
if conditions keep up here.
Neil: the online SDRs I mention are at https://sdr.hu/map. Just pick one
from the geographic area that you're targeting, assuming you're able to
make comparisons in realtime while live DXing. I've found some remote
receivers better than others so you may have to try a few until you get one
with good reception of your target station. There are several in Australia
and New Zealand.
