Re: [IRCA] Michigan DUs, Sept.9th 2018

Hi Tim and Neil,

<<< 576 2RN Sydney peaking from 11:07 to 11:19 UTC with very faint music.
Confirmed 2RN against an online receiver near Sydney. New log! Distance is
9,345 miles (15,048 km) from transmitter to my backyard BOG array.

585 UNID carrier peaking to trace audio at 11:21 UTC with OM talking in
heavy domestic slop, too poor to discern any words. >>>

Congratulations on your extreme long range reception of 576-2RN, Tim! That's awesome DX for someone in the Midwest.. Tasmania's 585-7RN parallel was also hitting S9 levels at the Rockwork cliff last month, so Midwesterners should never hesitate to go after it.

<<< Yep, it is this time again! If 585 was Tasmania it should be // 576 2RN as
both are RN net. That was how I was sure of Hobart on 585 last season. >>

Even if you can't confirm the parallel between 576 and 585 at the time of reception you can still get a Podcast "parallel" with the ABC website, although the process of doing so may well be as challenging as the reception itself. I needed to go through this routine to confirm reception of 558-6WA at the cliff last month, and depending on how much recorded material you have to work with, the ABC Podcast search can either be easy, or like a nightmare. Since I successfully got through a worst-possible-case scenario with 558-6WA last month (a few seconds of marginal reception), I would be happy to help any long range DU-DXer navigate through the ABC website maze, if this is their only option for making sure of having scored a long range Australian..
