Re: [IRCA] AM loggings from 1100 UTC 26-Aug-2018, during G3 storm and sunrise enhancement

Hi Mark,

Your logging:
1120 KTXW Manor, TX
ID @ 1059, which included ID for the FM translator(?): "...now heard in the
hill country on KHSB(KHSV?)-FM, Kingsley - Ft. Steuben (that's what the
towns sounded like). KMOX way in the background.

Here is the corrected id for your information:
"KTWX Manor 1120, now you can listen in the Hill country on KHSB-FM,
Kingsland and Horseshoe Bay KHSB-FM 104.7"
Thanks

James Niven
Austin, Texas

Subject: [IRCA] AM loggings from 1100 UTC 26-Aug-2018, during G3 storm and
sunrise enhancement

General notes for 1100 UTC on 26-Aug-2018:

G3 geomagnetic storm in progress. Also, semi-local t-storms at the time,
which pretty much killed the bottom third of the band. Local sunrise was
1104 UTC. So not only did I have auroral conditions, but also sunrise
enhancement.

Antenna: 140' D-Kaz aimed south
Radio: Perseus receiver
Software for spectrum recording: HDSDR (was trying out the new beta)
Location: Northern Indiana (Goshen / en71ao)

All new logs unless noted. All 1058-1100 unless noted.

==================================================================

580 XEMU Piedras Negras, Mexico, relog
Dominant and good signal before 1100, with reg. mex. music, then singing ID
at toh "La Rancherita Del Aire". Fading after toh, until WILL took over.

590 unid Mexican?
1058-1108
Only hrd "La Mejor", which could be about anybody. Two Mexicans show that as
their slogan on MWLIST - XEBH and XEFD. Lively reg. mex. music, strong at
first, then fading until almost gone at 1108.

620 XENK(tent) Guadelupe del Monte, Mexico Hrd. "Cadena Rasa" several times
for ID, which shows tied to 620 AM XENK in internet searches. Mexican N.A.
played after ID until lost to WTMJ.

660 XHEP(?) Aguascalientes, Mexico, relog of XEEY but with new call as part
of the Mexican Call Sign reassignments? Pretty sure of the XHE but after
that it could be G,P or E. It wasn't Y, which is what the old call sign
ended with. Besides the call ID, heard the following: "102.9 FM", "en
Aguascalientes", and "Una estacion de radio...el groupo radiofonico zer" (a
phrase that matches info on the streema page for XEEY).

690 KTSM El Paso, TX
ID @ toh: Newsradio 690 KTSM, El Paso." Then into NBC news.

730 KKDA Grand Prairie, TX
Talk program in SEA lang, then EE ID @ 1059.40, then back to SEA lang.
Faded in when XEX (next entry) faded out.

730 XEX Mexico City(?), Mexico, relog
"Dreams" by the Raspberries, then ID @ 1057: "Musica...en W deporte...W
deporte siete cientos treinta AM..."

790 KBME Houston, TX
Ad for Kurk Homes (with their website), several ments. of 790sportradio.com.
No call hrd, but at that website, KBME is listed.

850 KEYH Houston, TX
Lively ranchera music, ID in SS @ 1100.30 for KEYH 850 AM and KNTE 101.7 FM.
Then singing ID "La Ranchera (something) me gusta mas".

920 WDMC(tent) Melbourne, FL
1027-1029
Promo for EWTN program "Time Travels at the Speed of Christ's Life"...
"Saturday mornings, at 11am only on Divine Mercy Radio." Followed by an ad
about some Senate abortion legislation, focusing on Florida Senator Bill
Nelson.

930 KDET Center, TX
ID just before toh when they apparently switched to day power and popped up
out of nowhere: "You're listening to the voice of (something) Texas, on AM
930 KDET (Center?), and streaming online worldwide, at cdc-radio.com", then
promo for "Heaven's Jubilee", a southern gospel radio show.

940 XEQ Mexico City, Mexico, relog
Nice signal with AC SS music then "Ke Buena" ID.

960 KRON Abbeville, LA
Rooster crow @ 1101 followed by ID by man talking in a slow, strong southern
drawl "KRON AM 960 Abbeville ... 96.5 Lafayette-Breax Bridge".
Then weather, then some great cajun music. All under a fairly strong local
WSBT.

980 KQUE Rosenberg-Richmond, TX
SS list of beliefs ("credos de Radio Aleluya") @ 1058, then faded until toh
when call sign hrd "KQUE". Then into some mariachi. @ 1106 some other
frequncies listed: 88.1 FM, 980 AM, also 1590 AM and 98.3 FM.

1000 XEOY "Radio Mil" Santa Fe, Mexico, relog Call ID @ toh. Fair signal.
Didn't hear any "Radio Mil" ID.

1060 XERDO(tent) Matamoros, Mexico
ID near toh: La Raza...Mil Sesenta" with groupera and reg. mex. music.
Faded quickly and was replaced by another Mexican station playing the N.A.

call ID @ 1058, in mix of stations. Also at toh, another ID and "...San
Antonio's first Christian radio station..."

1120 KTXW Manor, TX
ID @ 1059, which included ID for the FM translator(?): "...now heard in the
hill country on KHSB(KHSV?)-FM, Kingsley - Ft. Steuben (that's what the
towns sounded like). KMOX way in the background.

1150 KCCT Corpus Christi, TX
ID popped up out of the noise @ 1058: "...and K381AV Corpus Christi. All new
retro 104-1". Topaz has translator ID as "K281AV", but I'd swear I heard
"K381AV". Haven't checked FCC database yet.

1220 KMVL Madisonville, TX
Song: "Come Saturday Morning" by the Sandpipers, then ID @ toh, then "News
is next, followed by more America's best music." Then into a Fox News alert.

Took over from KBRH above. Sports show, then ID "You're listening to KPXX FM
HD1 Pekay(?), KTAE AM Elgin, KP70CO(?) Round Rock. Mid-day with Cray and
PK."

1270 KFLC Benbrook, TX
My local WCMR was off the air (and my brother, the engineer, was up in
Michigan a few hours away, so I had some time to catch some stations while
it was off). SS M & W talking, giving scores, with sound effects (baby
crying). //streema. Still hanging in there at 1215, over an hour later.

1280 KWHI Brenham, TX
ID @ toh, "KWHI in Brenham, playing the best of country music, from Doris
Jones to Alan Jackson, from Loretta Lynn to Shania Twain, we have it all."

the call ID "KTEM" right at the toh, and that was it.

1560 KGOW Belaire, TX
