[IRCA] Portuguese on the NHK2 Network After 1540 UTC

For those who are not in the Yahoo Real DX group, watch out for an exotic-sounding language on the Japanese NHK2 network after its usual sign off time around 1540 (a warning which probably only applies to DXers in the Alaska and Hawaii areas, or salt water area DXers on the west coast). 

Craig Barnes (currently in Princeville, Kauai) recorded a strong, unusual signal on 693 kHz around 1551 UTC yesterday morning on his Tecsun PL-310 and "Frequent Flyer" FSL, which was posted to the Yahoo Real DX group (the video is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHQ9Trh7wSI 
Because the NHK2 network (693-JOAB) should have signed off by that time, the station's identity puzzled all the TP-DXers on the list. Even the language seemed like a mystery. Finally some European language experts on the list identified the language as Portuguese, and upon investigation, it was determined that the NHK2 network has a new Portuguese language program on the network at this unusual time. As for who would listen to Portuguese in Japan at 1 AM local time, that part wasn't entirely clear. What is pretty clear is that as long as this strange NHK2 program continues, the chances of Hawaii DXpeditioners hearing anything exotic on 693 around sunrise are about the same as Portuguese speakers tuning into this NHK2 program in Japan.
