[IRCA] Japanese AMs switching to FM
I've been noticing a great push of Japanese AM stations adding FM stations in the extended Japanese FM band upwards of 90 MHz, most of them from 90 to 95.
I had originally created my Seoul bandscan over the summer and had exhaustively added details of FM stations running parallel but have noticed numerous AMs have added new FM frequencies in the past few months with instructions on how to tune them (get a radio that extends beyond 90). I think countries like the US would deal with a similar issue if a band were extended, except obviously Japan does all things radio far better than elsewhere.
Most of the FM extension education guides look exactly the same across multiple station websites. You can see an example of STV's (a station I know many of you often receive in the US and Canada) here: http://www.stv.jp/radio/listenradio/fm/index.html
