i there guys - I haven't heard any Spanish in the mystery signal on 790
kHz. There has been no human speech whatsoever, although I haven't been
listening for long intervals. But the consensus seems to be that I am
hearing a station of the Radio Reloj network on 790 from Cuban. This
weekend I will listen carefully to see if I can pick it up again and
distiguish the morse code letters (have to wait until the weekend - I
can only hear it around 4 AM).
BTW, I picked it up on a refurbished Grundig Satellit 800 that I just
got from Universal Radio, with a 25 foot wire hung out my window. I
really enjoy that radio - the audio quality is so good it actually
makes up for some of the more sophisticated bells and whistles the set
lacks. I had been using a modified Icom R75 but I much prefer the
Grundig, which seems to be just as sensitive on MW, with better
selectivity using the sync detector, audio quality that is magnitudes
better and it is far easier to use and manipulate.
