Paul, that's because you are in the Arctic, hence the auroral zone.
Bizarre things happen up there. My best reception of Bangladesh on 693
occurred only during very disturbed conditions while on Haida Gwaii. Not
quite Arctic up there, but far enough north! 73,....Walt
