I also had some fun-- with my new 5 foot square copper loop. After rewinding 
the transformer from 22 turns to 4 turns, per Craig's suggestion (thanks!), 
signal level is now much improved on MW, and with an ARR broadband preamp 
it's doing <very> well. It still isn't useful below about 500 kHz, but 
that's to be expected, with not enough inductance with only 4 turns. I need 
a toroid with a lot more permeability, which I don't think there are any 
larger toroids in higher mixes than -75/J, which I'm using already.
I think I'll make the big 10 foot square loop tomorrow, and try that now. 
That may have enough output to be useful at LF. And maybe dig deep in the 
"junquebox"--maybe I'll come across a toroid with higher permeability to 
try. (One can hope.)
Thanks to Craig for all the posts about his copper loops--I've saved every 
one of them, and finally got around to trying one for myself.

I have been having some fun with the two foot loop in the back of my truck.
Tonight I added a four position antenna switch.  Right now it has the loop
and the whip on the roof.  Switching between them brings some interesting
changes.  From where I happened to be parked, I can switch between the Cuban
and WICC on 600.  Likewise Cuba and Chicago on 670.  1220 brings either WRIB
or WHK even with it.

Tomorrow I'll make another two foot loop and mount it in the truck at 90° to
the current one, set for minimum interaction.   Maybe I'll try the phaser
with the two loops as well, though that can get dangerous while driving
(grin).

With the essentially nil noise pickup, the loops will be a boon for DXing on
the long commutes between some of my clients.  Now to add a headphone jack
to block the truck noise..
