Asian propagation favored several less common Asians this morning, with another generous sunrise enhancement bringing audio from 603-HLSA (fair), 657-Pyongyang (disturbingly strong), 738-BEL2 (fair), 1017 (poor to fair), 1035 (poor) and 1044-CRI (poor to fair). Like yesterday the high band Asians dropped off significantly after 1300, but the 1566 pulse-type jammer was still on HLAZ's signal, occasionally at stronger levels than the Japanese Christian service.
Regarding the 1566 pulse-type jammer, it was strongest around 1255 here (although my MP3 recorder's batteries chose to go out right then). The jammer has a pulsing tone of approximately 700 Hz every two seconds, and I was able to confirm that its signal drops off completely on 1565 or 1567 (i.e., it isn't splatter or electrical noise). In addition, its propagation follows TP-DX fading patterns, and it fades in and out at slightly different times than HLAZ (although it generally follows HLAZ's trend, as far as major changes). Probably the most important factor that I've noticed is that it never shows up unless there is at least a moderate carrier from 1593-CNR1 in east China, so if you don't have the 1593 carrier at all, you probably won't have the 1566 jammer at all (even if you have a good signal from HLAZ).
Probably the highlight of this morning's session (if you can call it that) was a hair-raising ID from 657-Pyongyang after the strong 3 + 1 pips at 1330 (since North Korean time starts on the half hour, this is their "TOH."). The tirade lady's hyperactive shouting was one for the record books. Sunrise enhancement also brought up 738-BEL2 and the Chinese mid-band stations on 1017, 1035 and 1044, although none of these could match 657-Pyongyang's irritating signal. The Japanese and Korean big guns on 594, 693, 747, 828 and 972 weren't as strong as usual this morning, with the exception of the 1053-Jammer, which had an apparent Chinese co-channel under it whenever it wasn't at an overpowering level.(as it was most of the time, during sunrise enhancement). Overall the session was pretty interesting, with 657-Pyongyang's signal the strongest that it's managed here for several years.
657 Pyongyang BS Pyongyang, N.Korea Strong 3 + 1 pips and hair-raising ID by the Korean tirade woman at 1330-- the wackiest TOH ID I've ever heard
