Re: [IRCA] Old GE radio

When I was stationed in South Korea a guy had a Zenith Transceanic. We
had Los Angeles on one night - so cool. Set it up on a small hill.

Another night, one of our commo guys brought a field radio up there and
we were fooling around with it and actually picked up a fire fight in
Nam.

I'm no techie but didn't those radios have gold parts in 'em? And isn't
gold a super conductor? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

All the entertainment i need can be found in a radio.

Hello,

I remember around 1963,  I was staying with my sister in Pollock Pines California during the summer.    They had a GE radio, transistor that had a leather type material on it.
It really bought in the AM stations.  I believe that it had "Long Range" written on the radio.  My sister house was at 4.000 elevation,  FM stations really came in good, better than the AM stations.
