All true Charles. Very sporadic the wild blasts of carrier excursion,
and difficult to catch short of camping on a likely suspect -- which I
do with regularity. Radio Musical 590 has been the latest, but I've
chanced to hear the brief outbursts on R.Progreso 680 and R.Reloj 870
recently, and others have reported hearing one as well.
WAFC 590 Clewiston, Florida, holds forth daily with all of 930/470
Watts. Not likely to make much of an impression elsewhere, but just 56
miles distance, competition for the Cuban 590 traveling from presumed
Santa Clara, Villa Clara, some 270 miles away.

Getting back to the

At 20:06:30edt 10/15, 590 R.Musical launched another of the Big Ones, a
violent excursion settling to a Wobbler and then back to normal in a
period of a few seconds. This is as Paul Z. described yesterday.
I just happened to be giving 590 its daily chance in the spot light and
it rewarded me with a special performance. Considering that WAFC,
Clewiston, was way on top with accordion music, that this cut through
on
the channel as it did, was quite impressive.
Each time I hear one of these I can only think of some sort of switch
over that sets them off.

All right already:
Considering the lunatic-fringe idiot that WROTE this thing and the
lunatic-fringe idiot that is now trying to decypher all this, I'd bet
this e-mail traffic is prime material for NSA consideration!
Does any of this bear any resemble to reality or did 1 April and 31
October come together in some violent culmination in God's mind in
which
mankind has finally caught the last freight train to perdition?
I mean, jeeze, it sounds plausible and then again it sounds like pure
science fiction, something to be uploaded to the mothership.
If it really happened, then what the looneyfins is going on in Cuba?
HOW
COULD they arrange it? Like maybe someone has a 50-kW AM transmitter on
the air running normally and without taking the transmitter off the air
opens the beast up and plays with the crystal-oscillator assembly or
the
PLL assembly?
Also, I've been mostly away from active DX since 9/11 (actually not
then,
but it was within two months of getting caught up in other concerns)
that
I don't know right now
if there IS a WAFC-590 Clewston.
Tell me, Cap'n Curt, is this for real?
