Hi, Terry! >> That was one of my so called new stations recently. In the late 1970s to mid 1980s when I was off the deep end for BCB and SW radio DX, WINU was on 1510, and located in Highland, illinois. Glad I verified it back then too. Then we got a new station on 880, and they switched calls and cities of license.<< Yes, I recall that, Terry. That station has been quite a nomad over the
years, has it not? I first logged WINU in 1965, when it was on 1510, CoL
Highland IL. Sometime in the early or mid '90's, they moved to 880,
and then for some reason that I still don't understand, they rebuilt a facility
on 1510, CoL Highland (current calls WDID). I also remember that the
three stations, 870 Shelbyville, 880 and 1510 Highland, went through a series of
call swaps a few years ago, with WINU ending up on 870. I know that all three
stations have the same owner.
I have a friend who is a CE in Milwaukee. He did some free-lance
engineering for the 880 and 1510 facilities a few years back. The next time I
talk to him, I will ask him about just how Highland ended up getting two AM
licenses.
I have logged 880 and now 870, but I have never logged the new 1510
station. I have tried.
