I remember well visiting a fellow IRCAer, Mike Northan in Portland (You
may remember the name from the 60s/70s). Anyway, he had KEX on his
stereo and  Bill Block and I thought Mike had an FM station on. The
quality was that good. So AM can sound as good as FM if done right
without IBOC. The problem is with the cheap radios. There is little
quality in most of them.
