[IRCA] IBAC INVADES BRAZIL, DRM ON LW FROM GERMANY

IBAC INVADES BRAZIL, DRM ON LW FROM GERMANY

As reported in Portuguese in the DX Listening Digests 5-164 and 5-165, tnx to
posts from Eros John Cabral de Santana, Célio Romais, and Huelbe Garcia on the
radioescutas yahoogroup, we have specific info about IBAC tests which have just
been authorized on a few stations in Brazil:

R. Globo Minas, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, on 1150, ``IBOC`` day AND
night, 50/5 kW.
R. Gaúcha, Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, on 600, 100 kW, whether ``IBOC``
will be night as well as day not mentioned.

Test authorization is for one year. There are also two FM stations, all using
Harris ``Dexstar`` equipment. Who will manage to DX the IBAC sidebands overseas
if not actually demodulate it?

BTW, per Kai Ludwig in DXLD, LW 177 kHz from Germany is now DRM only. Someone
ought to be able to DX that TA, or if you were wondering where that analog
signal went, now you know. 73, Glenn Hauser
