[IRCA] FROM THE IRCA MESSAGE BOARD

From "Sue:"

I'm thinking about getting a nice radio for my husband, who is into DXing. Right now he has a Radio Shack DX-392, which has digital tuning and a cassette recorder; he also has an antenna called a select-a-tenna am radio antenna.
So I'm wondering if there is a nicer one I can get for him that will allow him to get better signals or something. We live in the south where there are lots of trees, so I don't know if that has affected his reception or not...? I really don't know much about DXing.
So, anyway, any suggestsions about what is the best DXing radio under $500, or the best one, period, that would be great. I saw some nice radios here but none had cassette recorders (is that important?).

Or recommendations about the best antenna to get. We live in a house, if that matters.
