I apologize for not posting test results for the
WNTP test. I've been out
of town on location shooting a new film for the
past couple of weeks
with only limited e-mail access and even less time.
Results for the WLLL test will be posted in a day
or two.
I also apologize for not cross posting the WLLL
test to the
various other e-mail lists. This resulted in some
dx'ers missing
out on the test. I was simply not able to access
e-mail
until yesterday.
My advice for all DX'ers is simple. Adapt. DXing is
a fluid,
dynamic hobby. Often opportunities for DXing will
come
with little or no notice. Witness the WTIC off air
period
last night.
I highly recommend that all DX'ers join both the
NRC and IRCA
clubs. Subscribe to both e-mail lists. Subscribe to
the DX
Tips list ran by the NRC (I must have 50 new
loggings because
of messages sent to my cell phone!)
Join the group on the #mwdx chat room whenever
you're
at the dials.
If you let politics get in the way (No way am I
going to be
on the NRC list!) Then you're going to miss
DXing
opportunities.
Both club's CPC Chairs work hard to schedule tests
with
advance notice and publicity. We run a "flash card"
alert
program for those without computers...and
whenever
possible we cross post test announcements. But
we
will miss some tests or maintenance periods.
For ham radio DX'ers these lessons were learned
years ago.
Most of us who are serious about ham DXing
subscribe to
several e-mail lists, pay money for things like
"The Daily DX",
monitor packet clusters, and even gather
information or
rumors about DX. Part of what makes a good DXer
is
their ability to gather intelligence.
The AM DX hobby must follow this example. Think of
it
as a challenge. :)
All of us should be grateful for DX tests,
even those with
short notice. Whenever a stations informs
us that they
will be off the air for maintenance, we
should
be thankful.
But to get this timely information, you'll need access to multiple e-mail lists and the #mwdx chat room.
Whenever possible, we'll continue to schedule tests
with
lots of notice...but I expect there will be fewer
and fewer
of these. Change is the only constant in life.
Adapt.
Our since thanks to the folks at WLLL and WTIC
for
the DXing opportunity last night. It resulted in a
new
logging for me and I hope, lots of others.
