Re: [IRCA] 1630 unid

Doug,

There is a station in Manteca CA which I thought was a pirate, operating on 1700 (now on 1630, thanks to the interference from Tijuana).  I was informed that it was a LP station (I think Part 15 or Section 15 was mentioned), and pointed to reference materials which showed it was legal.  I could receive them at about a 6-mile radius, and on a good night, I will hear a bit of interference from them at a further distance.  You may have one of those in the area.

Hi Patrick,
Yeah, I have a feeling it is. I went out on the road to see what I could
find. About a block away, it's nothing but farms for the next 35 miles so I
went out that way and the signal seemed to disappear. I was using the truck
radio, which is a poor one and 1640 was cutting in. Coming back into town,
it came in again. Very well actually, but I cant tell exactly what direction
it is in yet. My RDF abilities are lacking, hi. I think it's NNW of my QTH.

Anyone out there with RDF tips, I'd like to hear your comments. I picture
myself walking down the street holding an 80m Yagi (both hands) with an ear
plug, hi.

Thanks for checking up on this Patrick. Hmmm, a pirate in my town. I haven't
heard one for many years.
