Craig,
You are right, copper tubing works better for ground rods if the soil
isn't too hard to pound them in. I have been using copper tubbing for
quite sometime and it does work a lot better than the copperclad stuff.
The copper wears off and you are stuck with a piece of rusty iron in the
ground. I have zillions of rods pounded all over the place through the
years. The more the merrier I have found. Yes, when the soil here gets
really dry, it is sandy and doesn't work too well. We had a good rain
the other day and it did make a big difference. But Fall is coming on
and DX will be back.
