[HCDX] WIRL Test heard in Central Alabama

The station was coming in quite well even prior to the test. Listened to a
local ad seeking salespeople for the station itself, followed by an ad
for a local insurance agent, and then into a special voice announcement
about the test. This was followed by slow speed Morse Code. It almost
sounded "hand sent" to this old amateur. Great to hear code on the air.

During the next two hours listened to several bits of Morse Code, a few 1khz
tones, and quiet a bit of voice ID's/Jingles, mixed in with the classic
country music. Great stuff! My thanks to both Wayne Miller as well as Jim
Pogue, J.D., and the rest of the BTC for a great first test of the season!
Hat's off!

One disappointment during the test was that only a handful of DX'ers were in
the #mwdx chatroom during the test. We usually have a full house
for tests, and it really helps decipher those other "unknowns" that we so
often hear during the tests. If you haven't tried it, please visit:

www.starchat.net

During the next test and log in. It's easy...works on any web browser with
Java (Internet Explorer, Safari, Mozilla, etc.) The channel is #mwdx.

Another kudo to the folks at www.dxtests.info. This has to be the best
resource on the web for information about upcoming tests. The countdown
timers eliminate all the guesswork about when the test is actually starting,
etc. Check it out today!

73, and Thanks again to all.
