Re: [Swprograms] Interesting quote from Kai Ludwig via DXLD regarding NPR
And much of this "local media" retains a global focus...it's just a
global focus from the perspectives of that location. It's those
priorities that I find interesting...supporting Joe's "Joe Sixpack"
musing.
Hope some folks from the list join us in Kulpsville for the SWL Fest,
if even for a day. I know I enjoy sitting around and chewing the fat
over items like this, plus there will be some interesting forums and
interesting people to sit around & chat with.
If you intend to join us, get your registrations in ASAP - helps us
immensely with planning.

I don't think we ought to be fooled into thinking that call-in shows give us a whole picture of what the man and woman in the street believes or thinks. Many call-in shows are designed to appeal to a particular segment of the population and thus can present a skewed picture. I would relate to someone overseas that listens to US-based shortwave stations and presumes that they represent mainstream American thought. I do think that most call-ins outside North America to which I've listened via the internet attmept to be more inclusive; but unfortunately they seem to be copying our sorry model more and more rather than the other way around.
