Re: [Swprograms] BBCWS and Olympics streaming -- only slightly affected in 2008

Straying somewhat from "shortwave" (!) I have read that Major League
Baseball is overall satisfied with their streaming revenue. That's a
subscription model more than a PPV model.

However I agree, Scott, that overall the attempts to get money from
premium access for the Olympics have not fared well, at least on TV.

It appears AT&T won the 24/7 Olympics rights for mobile TV; Verizon
won analogous rights for its FIOS service.

NBC will be streaming much content online - but some of the more
prestigious sports will only be available on a TV service.

See http://www.paidcontent.org/entry/419-nbc-to-stream-2200-hours-of-olympics-coverage-live
for an analysis & commentary.

As for radio rights, the only thing I found was the BBC's Radio 5 Live
Sports Extra service. I doubt they'll be streaming...when the channel
service airs something not blessed for streaming, you hear a
continuous loop promoting the 5 Live Sports Extra channel.
