 WORLD OF RADIO 1416 SUMMARY:
*Radio República, clandestine for Cuba, changes frequencies: 22-24
 9515, 00-02 9640, 02-04 still 6100
*DentroCuban Jamming Command hits them immediately, and also runs
jamming far beyond necessary hours on 9515; 11775, etc.
*CRI English via Cuba back on 13740 at 14-16, after one day on 13760
*NPR`s DX program On the Media replays feature on Border Radio,
 Mexico/USA:
 http://www.onthemedia.org/episodes/2007/11/16/segments/89005
*XERTA, 4800, heard before sunrise with English IDs, or open carrier
*Ecuadorean government closes two TV channels, and Radio Sucre; latter
 still on air in Portoviejo
*Marumby outlet in Brasil heard on 5870, religious but with news block
at 0800-0930, UT? if local time, = 1100-1230 UT. Something audible in
evening here, but too much WHRI 5875
*Brazil readjusts timezones, eliminating UT-5 in extreme west; now UT-
4 in Amazônia and beyond; UT-3 in all of Pará and the rest. SW
 schedules may change
*No SW officially from Ireland for many years, but:
*Wireless Public Address Systems from churches heard in Portugal on
 Wednesday evening until 1900 on 27065, 27285, 27395, 27595, 27725
*And pirate Reflexions Europe on 12255 with religious programming
 Sundays 1350-2140
*Poland puts external service on LW 198 kHz as fill when parliament
out of session; should include English at 0700, 1200, but not on at
night, so no problem for BBCR4/WS
*Double-whammy against Romania: not only is BBC cancelling Romanian
service August 1, but also RFE/RL --- not exactly, just to Romania,
but will keep it for Moldova, whatever that means
*Proposed legislation requiring ``happy news`` to balance bad news in
Romania opposed, president urged to veto
*Radio Maria, Italy, 26000, widely heard in Europe late into the night
via sporadic E, but no reports from North America; should be possible
 by multiple-hop
*Italy now has another 26 MHz station, in DRM on 26050-26070, 20 kHz
wide carrying 3 programs at once including Rai Radiodue and Vatican
Radio; in Rome, or inside Vatican?
*World of Radio 1416, your comments and contriubtions welcome to
 woradio at yahoo.com or P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702;
 http://www.worldofradio.org
*Burkina Faso reactivated on 5030, irregularly in evenings; also
 daytime on 7230
*R. Africa, Equatorial Guinea, reactivated 15190 on July 4 around 1800
*RNGE domestic services on 5005, 6250 also heard July 8
*V. of Biafra International never changed to 15280 in June, but July 4
on 17650 announced it would move to 19 meters from July 11; check
Friday at 20-21 for this WHRI transmission
*Eritrea and Ethiopia on 7999.4 and 8000 kHz
*R. Ethiopia heard from 0300 on 7110; external service on 7165 and
 9559.8 variable
*Addis Dimts Radio, clandestine via Samara, Russia, Sundays 16-17
briefly on 21585, returned to 17875
*V. of Tatarstan, or GTRK Tatarstan, also via Samara, on 15110, heard
in California from 0346 carrier on, programming from 0410
*Observed SW schedule of Myanma Radio; 9730.76 variable sometimes runs
 past 1512
*V. of Malaysia, 11884.70, bad modulation in Chinese until 1230
*R. Singapore International not making it to OK in summer, English at
1100-1400 on 6080, even worse on 6150; but webcast clearly announces
closure will be August 1, after two weeks of commemorative
programming about its 14 years on the air
*V. of Indonesia finally takes our advice to put English on at 1300-
1400 when reception in C&W NAm is best, on 9526. Then reception drops
 out
*R. Netherlands in Dutch via Philippines on 9655 from 1300, but
carrier on as early as 1245 with tones, clashing with RNZI until
 1259. IBB should crash-start
*IBB also wasting taxpayer money with open carriers long before
 programming on 17895, 15410, 9565
*Annual commemoration of coastal stations KPH and KFS, reactivated on
CW, from 0001 UT July 13; see http://www.radiomarine.org
*The Crystal Ship, pirate expects to close down within two months due
 to lease termination
*New Alaskan on 1330, KXLJ with Air America, also webcasting,
 http://www.kxljradio.com
*KINY, 800, Juneau applied for power increase, then temporary decrease
due to electricity rationing; hydro power restored by early June
*KNLS, Alaska, English at 12-13 hard to hear in CNAm, but one day atop
Taiwan and Firedrake on 9780, weaker on unsynchronized 7355. Should
 get off 9780 pronto
*CKRK, K-103.7 FM in Kahnawake, Quebec, Mohawk station near Montreal,
relaunched with new programming, webcast via http://www.k103radio.com
including Echoes of a Proud Nation Pow-Wow 1600 to 2200 UT July 12-
 13. Much more in DXLD 8-078 [not 7-078 as I misspoke]
*Propagation outlook from Boulder, July 8: solar flux stuck at 66 ###
