[Swprograms] Fwd: Crossing Continents reports from New Orleans on Thursday, 23 August 2007 at 1102

Interesting to see the cross-pollination between American Radio Works
-- a unit of American Public Media / Minnesota Public Radio in the
US...and BBC's Radio Four.

Perhaps my sensitivity to this type of thing has grown over the years,
but it seems like the amount of collaboration / re-utilization of
programs between broadcasters has increased the past two or three
years.

Dear listener,

In this week's programme, two years after Hurricane Katrina, American
Radioworks asks if culture could be the best engine to drive the
recovery of New Orleans.

Two leading American public radio presenters, Stephen Smith and Nick
Spitzer offer a provocative cultural tour of New Orleans' road to
renewal.

>From its brass bands to its renowned headliners at Jazzfest, from its
legendary craftsmen to its world famous cuisine, the Creole culture of
New Orleans is the soul of the city and was one of its most powerful
economic engines before Katrina.

Could it become that again?

You can hear Stephen and Nick's report on Thursday, 23 August 2007 at
1102 BST on BBC Radio 4. T

he programme will be repeated on Monday, 27 August at 2030 BST.
