They do have an FM transmitter in the XT receiver. The only problem
is that is range is only a foot or two. To get a decent connection
to an FM radio, one needs to either connect to the RF input of the radio
with a direct connection to the antenna port, or patch the audio output
of the XM receiver to a radio with audio inputs or an Ipod input jack on
the dashboard.
I have figured out how to beat the system. I have an old FM
translator that I once had licensed to operate in California. If I
tune the XM receiver to the input frequency of the translator, I will be
able to broadcast the output of the XM receiver for several blocks.
Of course I would never do that.
