My two cents:

Yes, hame on Tomlinson for being such a duplicitous hack.  Kudos to  
the Concerned VOA Journalists for telling it like it really is.  It's  
the Charter that's the problem for the "independent" (ha!) BBG.   
That's the long and the short of it.

Only in Washington today could a man who committed potentially  
indictable offenses and resigned in disgrace from an analogous  
domestic broadcasting job be given such a prominent role over a vital  
national mission like public diplomacy as practiced through  
international broadcasting.

What he and the BBG don't understand is that it is precisely what VOA  
has been doing all these years that helped gain such a lofty  
reputation for itself in particular and the country and its avowed  
principles in general.  Of course, this crowd neither respects nor  
understands those principles and certain does not trust them.
