The article was written in Canada based on a USA study.

The quote of interest to this group:

"In a study that gauged the desire of buyers for a long list of
advanced automotive technologies, safety and security systems came out
on top -- as long as they were reasonably priced....Once prices were
factored in, the top three most desirable technologies were stability
control ($300), premium surround sound ($400), and high definition
(HD) radio ($150), pointing to the high value people place on good
sound quality as well as cost.

"There's also a warning message in this ranking to satellite radio
providers who were formally approved to legally beam signals into
Canada this month, following the federal cabinet's approval of a CRTC
decision in June to allow Sirius and XM satellite services into
Canada.

"While satellite ranked ahead of HD radio in awareness and interest,
it fell significantly below them once the price was considered ($12.95
a month), leading researchers to say that buyers much preferred higher
one-time costs than continuing lower ones."
