I have to wonder if DRM will ever take off. Last week I noted an advert on
TV with a gent using a hand held portable XM rcvr with ear plugs. This
appeared to be like a typical portable radio for am-fm. No mention of
price. I have to think if DRM is to succeed now, they will need the price
to be dirt cheap and one heck of an advert campaign to get it off the
ground. However, as an owner of a Sirius rcvr, I have to wonder how well
the XM portable unit works. Strictly an outside toy as seen in the advert.
As I tune the bands I can hear the hash from the DRM broadcasters and wonder
how many can actually hear them. Most likely only a very few and wonder why
they bother.
I still think DRM will go the way of a.m. stereo.
