Australasian contemporary music was dominated by a band who's humble
beginnings in Taumaranui, catalysed Ponsonby rock and fermented a
legend before crossing the Tasman to become fully fledged Oz rock
royalty. Dragon arrived in Australia after the mega-platinum pop burst
of Sherbet and Skyhooks and reigned almost supreme until the rise of
deliberately working class bands like Cold Chisel, Australian Crawl and
Men at Work. It's surprising that given their fatal attraction the
Dragon story isn't better documented, but Dragon were a union blessed
with charisma, arrogant energy.
