Steam locomotives are still operated on a 42 kilometer stretch of the 
Mo'oka Railway between Shimodate in Ibarake Prefecture and Motegi in 
Tochigi Prefecture, to the northwest of Tokyo. Two steam locomotives run 
along this line on weekends and national holidays, a service that is 
popular with tourists.
