Re: [Swprograms] French president decries sale to China of jamming     transmitters

My bad---no misleading intent was wished. That's what happens when one
has a long day!! :)

I remember years ago at an EDXC meeting in Nanterre, our group went to
an office of Thales, where a rep dicussed with us one of the first sales
of ALLISS (can't remember to whom it was---the Swiss (??---anyone
remember?) There was a mini- plastic-prototype of the whole system on
display and at the time it was considered quite unique in it's
properties and in the set-up construction. It was quite a fascinating
talk!

Your headline is misleading. It is Reporters Without Borders who have
decried the sale not Chirac who has been criticised in many quarters for
not raising human rights issues during his visit to China, one of the
aims of which is to tell the Chinese government of his support for the
lifting of the European Union arms embargo and to gain arms contracts
for French firms.
