Thanks-----the problem is that the light is out on the display, I am
bringing the unit w/me, I've got Mark's email, and can contact Uncle
Skip. Last email I got from Mark (several weeks ago), he said
unfortunately, he wouldn't be able to make it to the Fest, but I will
email US and see if there is something he might be able to do.

Maryanne, I've seen a couple of mentions on the net about guys who
repair various versions of Rat Shack scanners. You might want to try a
Google search on repairs for your version on the scanner or subscribe to
the SCAN-L list.....U of Missouri I think ???...they're a pretty
knowledgeable group of guys. Another alternative would be to contact
Mark Meese or Uncle Skip. They know a lot of guys in the scanner
community who might be able to help you.

I have a scanner that has had some adjustments done to it, as a result I
am reluctant to send it off to RatShack (where I orig. purchased it) for
repair. I've been busy and haven't had the time to call a couple of
people the local Ham Radio Outlet said could repair it. 
Anyone going to the Fest that might be able to help me out? Thanks.
