As you may have noticed, Nick, 1017-Tonga had a decent carrier right at our 1030 UTC show up times on both Saturday and Monday at the Cliff butÂcould only manage anemic audio at best. Most of the time it stayed just above the noise level, getting hammered by 1020-KTNQ splatter.

It appears Tonga may have been on late, but they are so
undermodulated that even though there was a strong carrier, any audio
was near imaginary
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
738 Tahiti, pop music 1151UT, Ânot quite ÂRockworks, but not bad.
Reasonable audio Âat Âtimes during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
the above passing through
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
the above passing through
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)
1017 woman mumbling 1210-1211UT, Âvery big carrier.
1098 man talking, DU English perhaps, 1145UT
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)
ÂÂ1035 1107 1566
best wishes,
Nick
