I'm still around - nice to know I was missed. :-)

What happened was that I got rid of the home phone service provided by
my ISP, and replaced it with a much cheaper VOIP service. The
changeover should have gone smoothly, but my ISP bungled at their end
and shut off my Internet service completely. Thanks to their
bureaucracy, it took the better part of a day for them to get it going
again.
