Thanks to Colin and Dennis for their earlier TP-DX reports. There were some potent Asian signals this morning but they were all from the Japanese and Korean big guns. Except for the regulars on 594, 693, 747, 774,Â828, 972, 1053Âand 1566 the Asians sounded pretty anemic, with only a few second-tier TP's managing ghostly audio for brief periods.
Â
At my 1300 start time the band seemed to show some potential in the predawn darkness, with the NHK big guns and 1566-HLAZ already at good levels in and out. They stayed that way throughout the session, although the other Asians on 603, 657, 738, 1044Âand 1134 waited until a moderate sunrise enhancementÂaround 1355 before barely showing up with weak audio. Unlike Dennis I had no DU propagation, and the session was pretty remarkable for the huge difference in signals betweenÂ594-JOAK, 693-JOAB, 774-JOUB and 828-JOBBÂand everythingÂelse around 1400. These Japanese big guns took turns hitting S7-S9 levels while weak stations on 603 (HLSA), 657, 738 (BEL2) and 1044 barely came out of the noise for a few seconds each. The session was pretty mediocre overall, but the Japanese big gun audio was their strongest performance yet since the recent auroral disturbance.Â
