The aurora's suppression of a lot of domestic high angle splatter 
(hypothesis alert) seemed to let a fair number of underpowered DU's 
to sneak through this morning, with the bulk of the excitement in a 
few minutes around 1400UT

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, 
at least briefly):


612 4QR sports 1359UT, followed by time check "one o'clock, midnight 
in Queensland, and it's ten in the west", no pips or fanfare and 
straight into news. as much as 5dB stronger than 610 at this point
792 4RN  clear once KGMI-790 nulled with the Vactrol (deeply), ABC news



Reasonable audio  at  times during the period (much of it 
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

747 4QS ABC news //738 at 1404UT



not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or 
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

594 3WV man in DU English //612 at 1412UT





Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be 
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in 
talk or music)

567 man talking DU English? but not // 612 at 1304UT
576 2RN female vocal music, man in DU English?, but //621
603 woman talking 1326 UT, DU English inflection, maybe //576, but 
both too rough to be sure
621 3RN 6 pips, ABC news fanfare //846 1400UT
702 2BL woman talking 1351UT, and about one second faster than //612
738 2NR ABC news, //747 and leading slightly at 1403UT
774 3LO jingle //747 and leading it slightly 1405UT
828 3GI pips and ABC news fanfare 1300UT
846 2RN man talking 1408UT, sounded DU English, but couldn't dig up a 
Radio National parallel, though ID'd earlier with weaker signal //621 at 1400UT
855 4QO/4QB man and woman talking //594 1405UT
891 5AN ABC news fanfare 1330UT
963 woman talking 1414UT
1116 4BC?  man talking DU English inflection 1420UT




Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or 
ravaged by splatter)
