[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 9-19 (Conclusion)

Thanks to Dennis, Colin, NigelÂand Brian for their detailed TP reports this morning. As reported by both Dennis and Colin there was good variety in the Asian propagation this morning, although the results here were much closer to Colin's version as the Japanese big guns pounded in with serious strength. In addition, Colin's report of the peak strength times for the various TP's closely matched the situation here-- somethingÂvery unusual betweenÂVictoria and Puyallup.
ÂÂÂ
At my 1250 start time the Japanese on 594, 747, 774Âand 828 were already at good levels in the predawn darkness, along with Korean signals from 972-HLCA, the 1053-Jammer, 1134-KBSÂand 1566-HLAZ in and out. The KBS2 parallels on 558 and 603 were also in weak audio, and even 657-Pyongyang was managing some dreary music under the domestic splatter. With the first sign of daylightÂthe Japanese big guns went into overdrive, and 594-JOAK started its monster run-- pounding in at an S9 level for about 15 minutes. 603-HLSA came up to a good level around 1305 with Korean pop music hosted by the deep-voiced male, followed by a fair-level Korean male tirade from 657-Pyongyang through the 660 splatter at 1309. The NHK2 stations on 693, 747 and 828 were all at very good strength in and out from 1310-1330 but couldn't quite match the overwhelming level of 594-JOAK. 972-HLCAÂhad similar potent strength in and out during this period while the 1053-Jammer wasn't far behind.ÂDuring peak Japanese propagation around 1320 an apparent 1053-JOAR once again began to challenge the Jammer at times, though, and 1134-JOQR once again reached a fair level in and out of the Vancouver splatter. The high band wasn't quite as active during this period but 1566-HLAZ's Japanese service continued to hit good peaks from 1300-1340, while both 1503-JOUK and 1575-VOAÂmanaged fair audio during the same period. 603-HLSA hit another fair to good peak around 1335 with "Don't Go Breaking MyÂHeart," while 594-JOAK's huge signalÂtapered off slightly-- to a very good level. Second-tier Asians on 603 (China), 738 (apparent BEL2) and 936 (China) showed up very weakly but never could maintain any strength for longer than a few seconds each. Although most of the Asians had bailed by 1350 the overachieving 594-JOAK refused to go until around 1400-- becoming the first Asian to stick around so long this season. Overall it was an excellent session for thisÂpoint inÂa lean solarÂyear, and I'm happy that Colin finally has the decent antenna to enjoyÂit!
