Re: [IRCA] KFI 640 kHz heard at 11:23 AM PST Daytime DX

Another reason for denying the 750 foot permit is that the airport the plane flew from isn't very far away.

I don't know if KFI still has the Nautel NX50 50 kW transmitter that was there in 2010. It probably does because Clear Channel is not known for spending money. Some people use another word instead of Clear that refers to that. I won't say it here. The NX50 is a state of the art solid state transmitter and has nothing to do with it not getting out like it used to. I'm not an engineer but a few weeks ago I helped three engineers install a new Nautel GV10 10 kW FM transmitter on a local major communications site in the foothills. That was a lot of fun and I learned a lot.

I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. Anyone is welcome to look at my tower and studio photos. They're on my flickr site which is www.flickr.com/photos/dcgibson55/sets. The KFI photos are in the Fybush So. Calif. Road Trip 2010 set. There is a set of the 2010 convention that Patrick hosted in Seaside. There are also tower sets from the 2007 Salt Lake City convention and 2009 Albuquerque convention. I have close to three years of photos that I haven't uploaded. I need to do something about that. Something else that's fun is the I Take Pictures of Transmitter Sites Facebook group. Anyone on Facebook is welcome to join. All you need to do is go there and ask to become a member. I'm not sure if you have to be on Facebook if you just want to look. Try www.facebook.com/groups/transmittersites.
