[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 2-16

Hello All,

With an American holiday in effect there was a chance to investigate Asian propagation well before sunrise here, and the TP's certainly had a lot more energy to offer than yesterday. Most of the vibrant signals showed up from 1200-1330, though, with the sunrise period seeming toÂend up with theÂleftovers.

Around 1230 the Japanese big guns on 594, 693Âand 1287 wereÂall hitting good peaks, and both 972-HLCA and 1566-HLAZ were potent indeed. 1323-CRI was in and out at a fair level with apparent Russian, whileÂsignals were also coming up on 738, 1503,Â1575 and 1593. These were noted on the ICF-2010 spotting receiver indoors, but when the 15" FSL was set up in the back yard around 1350 the Asians seemed to taper off somewhat. 594-JOAK ended up at a fair level for the rest of the session,Âand 972-HLCA was also down to a fair level in and out. The high band Asians on 1503, 1566, 1575 and 1593 didn't seem to have much interest in the sunrise propagation, either, and 1323-CRI was long gone. The only TP signals to get a significant sunrise boost (around 1450) were 603-HLSA (hitting good peaks in and out with its long-set music) and 657-Pyongyang, which was the sole Asian survivor hereÂby 1510. Like the monster in a bad Halloween movie it refused to die, staying just above the noise level with spooky, high-pitched female vocal music (familiar to any DXer who has suffered through it) until around 1525. Such was the story of a rather diverse morning.
