The problem I have with some noise-cancelling headphones is that, as part of 
the algorithm, high-end frequencies are rolled off to make cancellation more 
effective.  So...with the ones I've tried at least...you give up clarity for 
ambience suppression.

Not worth it for my old ears <g>

Saul, I'm not surprised at the price.   The cost of Bose aviation
headphones which I use when flying is around $1100!   I bought mine used
for about half that.  You really do get what you pay for, but for DX
purposes, I'm not convinced that noise cancelling is the way to go.  That
might be an interesting thread.  Noise cancelling or not?   73,  Walt
